Fearless Teaching Needed
Our hearts should feast on holiness,
And joy that ever shines,
The Christian life’s eternal bliss
In heaven’s perfect lines.
But still we must not turn away
From truths both harsh and stern,
For many drift from light of day,
To shadows where they burn.
Too often, sermons soft and sweet
Appease the ears polite,
While souls are lulled, they don’t retreat
From hell’s approaching night.
Who’ll stand and bear the mighty word,
Though hearts refuse the call?
For God’s own truth, though rarely heard,
Applies to one and all.
So let us raise a fearless voice
And speak of grace and pain,
For sinners teeter at the choice
Of life or endless bane.
Oh, sinner, pause before you fall
To flames no mercy knows,
The rocks and mountains cannot stall
When judgment overflows.
